Production mechanic EFZ, 3-year apprenticeship
The apprenticeship “production mechanic” starts with introductory courses at the AWZ training center (Ausbildungszentrum Winterthur). During the first two years, the apprentices attend different basic courses. After every course, a partial test has to be taken, which already counts for the final apprenticeship examination. Within the company, the production mechanic stays in the same department during his or her whole apprenticeship. On one day per week, the apprentice attends trade school in Bülach.
We subdivide the production mechanic apprenticeship into four subject areas that are defined by the vocational education and training:
- Assembly technologies and repair work on tools in the assembly department.
- Industrial engineering: Includes repair work and maintenance of machinery.
- Sharpening and grinding technique as well as repair work on tools.
- Manufacturing technique, conventional milling, turning and grinding in standard parts production.
